Under Ohio Revised Code Chapter 317, the recorder must accept, store, and index every qualifying document by grantor and grantee name.
Effective April 1, 2026, recording fees in Lucas County increase by $5.00 due to Senate Bill 94. The new fee is $39 for the first two pages and $8 for each additional page. Documents that do not meet formatting standards under Section 317.114 get an extra $20 charge. The rules call for font size 10 or larger, paper between 8.5 by 11 and 8.5 by 14 inches, black or blue ink, no highlighting, one-inch margins, and a three-inch top margin on the first page. Every deed that conveys title must include the preparer's name and address per Section 317.111.
